Investing in Our Community

Community is more than where BPU works. It is who we serve. As a not for profit utility, BPU invests in programs that help families, empower youth, and strengthen Wyandotte County. In 2024, BPU dedicated $625,000 to financial assistance programs, helping up to 1,500 local households through flexible payment options, hardship assistance, and other resources that keep homes powered and water flowing.

Empowering Future Leaders

We’re shaping the next generation through hands-on learning and career development:

Summer Youth Program: Provides job training and real-world experience to hundreds of young people.

20/20 Leadership: Equips high school students with leadership and life skills.

Touch-A-Truck Events: Inspires young learners by showcasing our utility vehicles and teaching where energy and water come from.

BPU Charity Golf Tournament

Join us on Saturday, September 12, at Dub’s Dread Golf Club as we work to surpass the $1 million mark. Register today to join the next chapter of giving back.

Since 1992, the BPU Employees Charity Golf Tournament has raised nearly $935,000 for local children’s charities. In 2025 alone, the tournament generated $84,000, continuing a tradition of community impact driven by BPU employees, sponsors, and supporters.

Giving Back Together

BPU Employee Foundation

BPU employees don’t just serve the community; we give back. The BPU Employee Foundation leads volunteer efforts, from holiday toy drives and Thanksgiving meal deliveries to Adopt-A-Family programs for those in need.
