BPU Board to Review 2022 Proposed Budget

(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) — The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Board of Directors will be reviewing the 2022 proposed budget during a workshop to be held on Thursday, December 2nd.

The workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the BPU Administration Building located at 540 Minnesota Avenue, KCK.

Thursday’s workshop will consist of budget reviews for the Electric Production; Accounting & Finance/Purchasing & Supply and Administrative Services Divisions; General Management; Corporate Compliance; Customer Service; Information Technology; Water; Electric Operations and Electric Supply Divisions.

The final budget will be presented to the Board for their approval during the December 15th Board meeting.

BPU’s water department was originally created in 1909, and its electric utility was operational in 1912. The purpose of the utility, then and to this day, is to provide the highest quality electric and water services at the lowest possible cost. Today the publicly owned utility serves approximately 65,000 electric and 53,000 water customers, primarily in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
