Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs: Program Sunset Notice

BPU’s Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs will sunset effective January 1, 2026.

To be eligible, rebate applications must be submitted and approved on or before Saturday, December 20th, 2025, and all installations or purchases must meet program requirements. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

As rebate programs conclude, funding previously budgeted for these programs may be redirected through BPU’s budget process to support other customer and community initiatives, including efforts to expand access to energy affordability programs for all of Wyandotte County.

Rebates depend on system size (in tons) and SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating. Minimum SEER rating: 14. Check the tables below for specific rebate amounts.

Other Rebates

All-Electric Split-Systems: $100

Water Heaters:

50-Gallon: $175

80-Gallon: $220

Hybrid (Tankless): $365

Energy-Efficient Air Conditioners: $50 per ton (SEER 15 minimum required)

Gas Furnace Replacement: $150 (Replace with an electric furnace or air handler.)

Dealer/Contractor Rebates

Rebates are also available for qualified dealers and contractors installing energy-efficient systems. Email publicaffairs@bpu.com for details and eligibility requirements.

How to Apply

1. Email publicaffairs@bpu.com with your address and contact information.

2. Schedule an Inspection: BPU will verify your system on-site.

3. Receive Your Rebate: Approved rebates will be applied directly to your account.

Eligibility

Rebates apply to installations completed within the last 18 months.

Rebates are for residential customers only.

Dealer/contractor inquiries are welcome.

No credits are available for systems installed before February 2011.
